MUTCD code search interface
Introduction
This
program provides the database interface to search the Manual on Uniform
Traffic Control Devices codes. Each sign
image is excerpted from the PDF
manual. Users can
specify the search option at the Query options box. The properties of
each sign will be displayed when a user select a sign. Additionally, to
see all signs in the database (currently 667 types), press Show all
signs at the bottom of the query window.

Operating system
I developed this software on Windows XP.
Configuration
Once you installed the program, you have to modify the mutcd.ini file located under /mutcd/data/mutcd.ini to meet with your directory configuration. Specifically, basedir and datadir should be modified. Followed the format in there.
Open mutcd.ini with any text editor. Modify the directory in there
Query options
- Keyword: This will query all texts in the sign name, its associated manual section, its section title, and the text depicted on the sign (ex, speed limit).
- Shape: A number of different boundary shapes are used at traffic
signs

Commands
- Query: This will run the query. However, our program will automatically update the query result whenever a user enters a keyword or change the selection of each query drop box.
- Show all signs: This displays all registered signs in the database
- Initialize: Blank all query options
Sign properties
The detail traffic sign properties will be displayed when each sign is selected. Interested users c an find the detail exaplnations using the section title and section number at the MUTCD PDF file.
