Pil Ho currently works for Samsung Display, the world-leading display panel maker, as a vice president of AI Lab with a mission to boom up AI and bring it to the heart of every single manufacturing process.
Before the current job, he was hired as the first AI/ML specialist of AWS Korea and helped over thousands of customers from hundreds of companies in almost all verticals develop new business opportunities through AI-based digital transformation.
He is interested in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive system back-end design, IoT, sensor data integration and mining, multimedia content analysis and lifelogging with 25-years hands-on experiences.

Container Ship Pattern Recognition Objectives The CSPR project is to recognize the container ship entering the harbor gate to control their access and manage according harbor assets to have the traffic flow efficient in addition to cost-minimizing purposes. Our team is currently working with the U.S. States government engineering team to exploit its usage at the Georgia Savannah harbor. This project is launched in 2007 with extensive research reviews to specify its topics and coverage.

This page provides a brief introduction on a number of selected research projects that I have done. Multimedia information processing EML: EML is an E-model data query language extending the SQL-89 standard with enhanced features: (1) unstructured query, (2) semantic query expansion, (3) temporal query, (4) ranked ordering, (5) path query, and (6) natural join. An E-model prototype is implemented on top of relational database. Hundreds of SQL procedures and functions are developed to support full operations.
